Stealing Sheep - 'Let's Go' (Single Review)
When you think of Liverpool-based forward-thinking musical forces of the past 15 years, it's pretty difficult to conjure up a more captivating powerhouse than the ever-excellent Stealing Sheep.
Having dropped a slew of stellar studio albums, alongside reimagining the soundtrack of René Laloux's 1973 sci-fi animated milestone La Planète Sauvage and 2022's blistering tribute to the electronic music pioneer Delia Derbyshire 'Wow Machine', the Sheep have thrown yet another curveball by deciding to unleash their latest creations entirely independently.
The first example of this inspiring new direction is 'Let's Go', a fiercely frenetic earworm that fuses the trio's trademark alt-pop sensibilities to a breakneck garage beat and an unhinged happy hardcore freakout carrying the track to an exhilarating 3 and a half minutes of audio bliss. Enlisting Wirral's brilliant psych pop outliers She Drew The Gun to flesh out the magnetic atmosphere with their uniquely irresistible flourishes, 'Let's Go' is a statement of intent and the blueprint for the collaborative approach this new era of Sheeptopia brings.
The single has been released via the exciting new record label G-irl, a female-led sonic party incorporated by Stealing Sheep themselves with the aim of providing a platform to incredible independent artists and enabling obstacle-free direct interactions with their audience. Multi genre experimentalist TIËRNY was recently revealed as the latest G-irl with many more sound-shifting artists set to jump aboard the project over the coming months.
Stealing Sheep are back and they're bringing their pals. Energetically progressive and forever inclusive, there's never been a better time to get involved.
So, what are you waiting for? LET'S GO!!!
