KOJ Link Up - Latitude Festival 1.8.24

This past weekend we were invited down to Latitude Festival by Aperol Spritz to curate the music and provide the summer madness at their pop up bar.

While we were down there we bumped into an old friend in KOJ who was performing at the BBC Introducing stage on the Friday night. Our co-founder Mark was able to grab him for a short interview afterwards, check it out below.

"Mark - Hello Family, that was powerful today. Iv seen how long you’ve been grinding. I remember seeing you in size 10 years ago warming up for Wiley still under the name Wavey Joe. Now you’re performing at BBC Introducing at Latitude, tell us how it come about.

KOJ - Yes Mark, you know what I feel like it’s been due, you know what I mean it’s justified but it’s amazing to have the opportunity to be able to perform here in front of this crowd in such a sophisticated space. It’s been amazing.

Mark - The atmosphere was incredible, it had the crowd going. What have you got coming up in the future?

KOJ - I want to do a couple more of those tribe events, we launched Tribe last night. I want at least 2 more of them by the end of the year, see where we can take that. And as I say just any opportunity that comes my way, keep knocking them down.

Mark - I see your T Shirt there, tell us about the Tribe brand.

KOJ - So basically, there’s not enough space for black music in Liverpool as it is, but there’s loads of urban talent. So I just want to create a space where people can come and enjoy really good authentic Liverpool music. Supporting the community, supporting each other. But as I say it spreads the message of, we are the Tribe.

Mark - How olds your little man now?

KOJ - 2 and a half now.

Mark - What’s his name again?

KOJ - Leonard, big up Leonard you get me.

Mark - We’ll be seeing him on the stage soon, at Glastonbury and everything

KOJ -  He’ll probably be on the buttons at some point, yeah man lovely to link up with you Mark.

Mark - Appreciate it brother, smashed it."
